Want to explore all things CGES PTO? Your're in the right space! We hope to share news and events here as well as provide you with ways to get involved at CGES.Â
A PTO, or Parent Teacher Organization, is run not by school employees but instead by parent volunteers. As a registered nonprofit with a charitable purpose, the CGES PTO mission is to support and enrich the educational experiences and environment for the students at Center Grove Elementary School and to foster positive relationships among families, staff, and the local community that surround those students.Â
Â
With family or community funding we receive through our annual Fun Run, as well as occasional Dine to Donates, Spirit Wear, and Book Fair, we are able to enrich our students with these notable initiatives:
Annual teacher and staff stipends for classroom needs
Mini-grants for teachers/staff/grade/club that serve a long-lasting educational purpose
School-wide assemblies not otherwise offered by the district, which included the Planetarium, Scholastic Author Visit, and Eli Lilly's "Science is a Blast!" convocations last year
Staff Appreciation efforts throughout the school year including several all-staff meals
Quarterly, themed social events to encourage family and community engagement
Planning and implementation of large-scale school improvements. Previous purchases included the Gymnasium Rock Wall, two state-of the art Gaga Ball Pits, and the Outdoor Classroom. Additional playground improvements are on the docket for this school year
Recess sheds as well as new equipment purchases for each grade level each semester
Support for Field Day and 5th grade end-of-year activities
Support school ARMOR rewards program
Support testing snacks

Any parent or guardian of a child at CGES, and any staff member at CGES, can join the PTO, free of cost. All are welcome at our monthly general PTO meetings in the CGES Library at 6:30pm. 2024-25 dates are:
Semester 1: Aug. 13, Sept. 10, Oct. 8, and Dec. 3
Semester 2: Jan. 8, Feb. 11, Mar. 4, Apr. 8, and May 13
Anyone who attends more than one meeting in a school year is eligible to vote on new business and board elections. We also understand that hectic schedules can interfere with your attendance; in that case, we welcome anyone interested in helping out with PTO functions to join a volunteer committee, follow us on Facebook, or contact a Board member.Â
CGES PTO cannot succeed without the help of our wonderful community, so we encourage you to help in whatever manner you can.Â
